糖鎖構造の解析は,質量分析器の進歩が推進してきた。このことにより,均一に見える培養細胞などの細胞集団にも,多様な糖鎖構造が存在することが明らかとなっている。質量分析器の進歩で読み解かれる糖鎖構造の多様性とその変化は,腫瘍などの疾患の発症と進展,疾患に随伴する病態の成り立ちに関連づけられてゆくことと思う。本稿では,このような視点に立ち糖鎖解析技術の進歩で実現されるバイオマーカー研究を考察する。 (著者抄録)

出血制御における従来手法と低温プラズマ法の比較
低温プラズマは,大量の失血原因とはならないような出血を対象に,組織に焼灼や熱傷を生じることなく,生じた血液凝固物によって出血部を閉塞し,止血することができる。高周波電気凝固止血装置など,出血点を焼きつぶして止血するタイプの器具(総じて,エネルギーデバイスと呼ばれる)を用いて手術をすると,熱による組織障害,いわゆる外科手術後の障害,すなわち術後障害と呼ばれるものが発生する。止血を目的に使用されているプラズマ技術にアルゴンプラズマ凝固装置(APC)他があるが,これらを止血目的で使用しても,止血に伴う侵襲性は依然としてある。プラズマによる血液凝固として,40度以上の高温状態に至ることなく安定なGlow‐likeプラズマを発生できる装置を開発し,医療用デバイスとしての実用化を進めている。
